Today on the blog we are excited to be chatting to Georgia from Harling and Yorke and finding out more about this small business!
Hi Georgia, thanks for joining us on our blog today at The Pop Up Emporium! We're really looking forward to finding out more about your business!
Can you tell us a bit about what you do, your work and how you started your business?
Hi, thank you for featuring me in this months grid feature. I own a small candle business called Harling & Yorke. We are a vegan friendly, all-natural, cruelty free brand who promote recycling, staying green and being good for not only you but also for the environment. A huge part of my business is making sure that all of our materials and all of the packaging we use for our products are plastic free and eco-friendly. I started this adventure during lockdown in 2020, I realised I was a lot more creative than I thought I was and figured I’d give candle making a go and it blossomed into something awesome.
We love your beautiful candles but what is your favourite item that you make/sell?
I have one of my favourite scents in the collection; lime, basil and mandarin, these scented candles are my favourite product at the moment. It has notes of citrus, its a refreshing scent yet at the same time so relaxing. It’s a party for the nostrils!
And what has been your most popular item of yours?
My most popular item has been the silhouette body candles, they were a huge success and very on trend. I added gold and silver leaf to the candles to give them that extra sparkle. They were the perfect gift for a loved one or even to treat yourself with. I wanted to promote self love and that every body is a beautiful body. I think having a strong, positive message is important when putting products out there for people to browse and buy.
Where can we find your items?
You can find my products on our website at www.harlingandyorkecandles.com
We also have an Etsy page at Harling & Yorke.
And also our Instagram of course @harlingandyorke
Do you have any new items launching soon?
We do have some very exciting stuff to launch. I’ve been thinking of branching out a little from candles and have started the experimentation of Reed diffusers, incense sticks and room/linen sprays. All will be revealed very soon!
And finally, here at The Pop Up we are all about supporting small businesses. What does shopping small mean to you? And how does it feel when people support your business?
Shopping small keeps talent and uniqueness alive, it brings the community together, it brings other small businesses together and to help and support one another, especially in this time during Covid. It’s such a wholesome feeling when people support my business! It keeps me motivated, energised and inspired, I always do a little happy dance when I get a new order come in (I’m sure many other small business owners can relate!) I can’t thank people enough when they support my business no matter how small or large, I am always very grateful.
